Rafael Dos Anjos was supposed to face the rising lightweight prospect, Rafael Fiziev at the co-main event of UFC 272. These two were booked to headline UFC Vegas 47, but the fight got pushed back because of Fiziev’s visa issues. Now that they were both ready, Fiziev got affected by the Coronavirus, and he had to pull out from UFC 272.

Many contenders offered to step in against RDA, but Islam Makhachev’s offer stood out the most. These two had a small back-and-forth on Twitter, and they’ll most probably sign the dotted line to make this official. Islam faced Bobby Green just last week, and he wants this fight to happen at the 170lbs division.

RDA asked the UFC to book this fight for 165lbs, but unfortunately, they don’t have such a division. Dana White also revealed that Islam would get a title shot against the winner of Justin Gaethje and Islam Makhechev’s fight, and RDA had something to say about this.

Ariel Helwani from The MMA Hour, asked him if Islam deserves a title shot, and RDA responded by saying, “I don’t think, to be honest with you. He’s got a 10 win streak, but look at his résumé. He didn’t fight any top guys, any top contenders. He was supposed to fight Benny but unfortunately Benny got injured. So I don’t think so.”

Islam was supposed to face Beneil Dariush but he got injured, and Bobby Green replaced him on short notice. Talking about this fight RDA said, “We knew what he was going to do. Seems like Bobby Green stepped in to collect his check and he did it. He went in, collected his check, and walked away. The guy fought two weeks ago. We know how hard it is to get ready, to fight. I don’t want to take any credit from anybody but it is what it is. Bobby Green went there, filled up the hole, saved the card, make his money, that’s it.”

RDA also claimed that he will fight at UFC 272 no matter what, “I’m game. Like I told you, I’m always game. I’ll fight anybody. I fight. I’m a fighter. I’m here to fight anybody Saturday. These guys, they don’t fight like that. They have to have the perfect fight camp, everything perfect, blah, blah, blah, so they can fight. They’re not gonna do it,” RDA concluded.
