The UFC Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight division fighter, Ilir Latifi earned split decision victory in his last fight against Tanner Boser on UFC Fight Night: Rozenstruik vs Sakai. Latifi paid a really heavy price for this victory as he nearly compromised one of his eyes in this fight due to an accidental eye poke.

Ilir Latifi’s one eye was swollen badly towards the end of this fight and he legitimately fears never fighting again as his vision was about to get completely compromised. Talking about the same in his latest interview with MMA Junkie, Latifi says,

“There was a big possibility I would never fight again, I got totally blind for three or four weeks. They didn’t really know how much of my eyesight would come back. I just had to be positive and do what the doctors say.” {H/T MMA Junkie}

Ilir Latifi followed all the guidelines that the medical professionals laid out for him and luckily his eye got saved. He also received clearance to train again and accept fight offers almost six weeks after his horrific injury.

Latifi has faced some of the biggest names in the promotion over the past such as Derrick Lewis, Corey Anderson, Jan Blachowicz, and others. According to him, the promotion already presented him a fight offer and he verbally accepted that as well.

Ilir Latifi is more than happy to accept this offer and fight again because at one point in time he was thinking about never fighting inside the Octagon ever again. Latifi added,

“I had a pretty bad eye injury, but I’m back getting ready and soon back in the octagon again, Probably February. There’s an opponent, but it’s nothing official yet.” {H/T MMA Junkie}
