The UFC Middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya once again showed why he is the king of the UFC Middleweight division by defending his title against Marvin Vettori in a rematch at UFC 263.

Right after his win, Adesanya called out the former Middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker to settle the score with him next. Whittaker on the same night tweeted Adesanya “see you soon”.

In his recent interview with the Daily Telegraph, Robert Whittaker criticized Israel Adesanya’s performance at UFC 263 and said the hype around his name has been completely shattered since his loss against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259.

Whittaker says, “Watching that fight against Vettori, you can see he’s not untouchable, it reinforced the fact that he’s very human. Very touchable. I actually thought his performance was average.”

“Not average in the context of being bad. But he never did anything more than what he had to do. He didn’t do anything flashy. He didn’t do anything more than necessary.”

Robert Whittaker continued, “Which is a good approach. But it certainly doesn’t put you in the realm of the Gods. He’s definitely not a God, He’s a very good fighter, sure. But he’s not as good as he thinks he is.” {H/T Daily Telegraph}

Currently, Israel Adesanya is on a ten-fight win streak in the UFC Middleweight division and number 3 on the pound-for-pound rankings. Whittaker knows he has a tough task ahead of him in the rematch but after Blachowicz defeating Izzy, he believes he can do the same as well.

Whittaker added, “And I understand why he’s been blow up to seem untouchable, on a different level to everyone else, But I think his loss to Jan, followed by his average performance against Vettori, just confirms that he isn’t as untouchable as everyone thinks.”

“Obviously, he’s already beaten me once so deserves to start our next fight as favorite. But I’m a much different fighter now. A different person. So I look forward to seeing what happens later this year.” {H/T Daily Telegraph}

Israel Adesanya called Robert Whittaker his son

Israel Adesanya is one of those UFC superstars, with whom nobody wants to engage in verbal war as Izzy is a big troll and after hearing these words from Robert Whittaker he didn’t take much time to respond to him.

With his tweet, Adesanya says, “I might not be a god to you, but I baptized you”. He added, “You don’t know God!” Fuck I’ve heard that before…”

In one more tweet, he shared a video of Whittaker, titled Happy Father’s day son with the caption, “Aaaahh shit, here we go again.” The fight between Adesanya and Whittaker is going to be one of the biggest rematches of this year and we can see the beef between both already building up.
