UFC’s fan-favorite Jorge Masvidal is hoping to make a return this fall and his demands are high. “Gamebred” wants to fight Nick Diaz or Colby Covington.
Masvidal has not fought in the octagon ever since his loss against UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. That was a devastating loss for the veteran of the sport has he had never been knocked out until UFC 261. That was his attempt for the welterweight gold. The fan favorite wants to make a return this year but he aims to make it a money fight.
ESPN reporter, Ariel Helwani was in contact with Jorge’s manager Abe Kawa and asked about his client’s return to the UFC octagon. “Gamebred” apparently is looking to either take on Nick or Colby. “Spoke to Jorge Masvidal’s manager, Abraham Kawa, about what’s next for Masvidal. He said Masvidal is targeting a return in October/November against either Nick Diaz or Colby Covington,” wrote Ariel.
Will it be Nick or Colby for Jorge Masvidal?
The rumors have been really strong for the Diaz brother’s return this year. Since his ban was lifted in 2020, fans have been waiting to see Nick inside the octagon. This year, Nick himself has stepped forward and approached Dana White to book him a fight in 2021. Meanwhile, Colby does not seem like he would available as the promotion is looking to make him the next title contender for Usman.
Masvidal before meeting Usman was coming off three straight wins. All his wins were ecstatic performances being against Nate Diaz, Darren Till, and the famous Ben Askren fight. Nick has not fought in the octagon since his “No Contest” fight against Anderson Silva. It has been 6 years since we have seen him inside the octagon and a matchup against someone like Masvidal will sure sell seats for the company.
