Usman is on a verge of breaking many records in UFC. He holds 14 straight victories in the Welterweight division that is second-most in the history behind the legend Anderson Silva (16). On the same day as UFC 268, the number one pound-for-pound boxer, Canelo Alvarez is going to defend his title against Caleb Plant.

After defending his title against Covington, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is planning to do something big in combat sports that have never been done. He proposed a boxing crossover against Canelo Alvarez for a fight in the number one pound for pound combat sports athlete in the world.

In his latest interview with ESPN, Usman says, “I think that’s something that would be the biggest ever in history, that’s what I’m looking to do. That’s something that scares me. That’s something that gets me up in the morning. That’s something that I might risk leaving my daughter for another 12 weeks for.”

If Kamaru Usman beats Colby Covington, he is planning to talk with UFC president Dana White and put together a fight with Alvarez. Usman added, “We’ll see who does better, we’re both in the business of entertainment nowadays.”

“He’s gonna entertain on the same night. So will we. We’ll see who does better numbers and then we’re gonna sit there and we’ll have a discussion with the pound-for-pound best promoter in the game Dana White and we’ll try to make something happen.” {H/T ESPN MMA}

Kamaru Usman defeated Tyron Woodley at UFC 235 and since then he has defended his title four times. But a fight against Alvarez is something that is exciting him more as he already defeated most of the top 10 fighters in the division.

Usman continued, “He’s a master of his craft, He’s used to these boxers. He’s used to the boxing speed and the boxing movements and things like that. We’re different. Sometimes different can be good. What’s wrong with giving him a different look? Of course, it’s a tall tree to climb, but we saw what happened the last time I was the underdog.” {H/T ESPN MMA}
