Jorge Masvidal is currently 36 years old. He might have a good two or three years left before he hangs up his gloves. At least that is what he told Ariel Helwani recently. Gamebred hasn’t fought since his devastating KO loss against Kamaru Usman at UFC 261 in April, this year. He is currently busy promoting his own fighting promotion as well – Gamebred Fighting Championship.

In a recent interview with Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie, Jorge Masvidal’s manager Malki Kawa spoke about his client’s future plans. Kawa revealed that he and his team were set to meet with the UFC in Las Vegas. He also clarified that Masvidal wasn’t ducking anyone, as people claimed.

“We’re looking for the fight that makes the most sense” – Malki Kawa

“We’re just trying to see what the next steps are. There’s so many options there. We just got to get out to Vegas and meet with the UFC, and we are planning on doing that after (Paul vs. Woodley fight week). Hopefully in the next two weeks we can get out there and see what’s going on with him.” [via MMA Junkie]

“We’re looking for the fight that makes the most sense to get his way back to a title. All this, ‘Oh he ducked this guy and ducked that guy.’ Masvidal’s not ducking anyone.” [via MMA Junkie]

Jorge Masvidal slipped out of the top 5 of the welterweight rankings after his loss against Kamaru Usman. A couple of months later, after the conclusion of UFC 263 he called out Leon Edwards, who beat the returning Nate Diaz. Masvidal also went back and forth with top-ranked welterweight Gilbert Burns recently.

With age catching up on him, at least that’s how it is on paper, Masvidal will be looking forward to going towards one last push at the title. What do you think the future holds for Masvidal?
