Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez were originally scheduled to take on each other in the octagon at UFC Vegas 31 but the fight had to be scrapped because “Blessed” was forced out from the fight due to an injury. The fight has now been reported to be rebooked from July 17 to November 13.

MMA reporter Aaron Bronsteter wrote on Twitter, “It’s not a done deal yet, but per Dana White, the UFC is looking to re-book Max Holloway vs Yair Rodriguez as the main event for UFC Fight Night on November 13.” Max is coming off a sensational win against Calvin Kattar in 2021.

Can Max Holloway get back his featherweight belt?

Max Holloway
Max “Blessed” Holloway

Max has a record of 22-6-0 in his fantastic career as an MMA fighter. He is a former featherweight champion and lost his belt to the current champion Alexander Volkanovski. Holloway has three successful title defenses in his record too. Many figured that Holloway would sit out until the Alexander Volkanovski vs Brian Ortega title fight went down at UFC 266 and “Blessed” fought next for the title fight. He has also fought both the headliners of UFC 266 in the past.

But looks like he will fight his previously scheduled opponent Yair in a Fight Night’s main event bout. The winner of this fight will likely become the next title contender. Yair has a record of 13-2-0 in his career. “El Pantera” has only one loss in the UFC. He would’ve more than earned a title shot if he goes on to beat Max. What do you reckon happens in the future of the featherweight division?
