Nate Diaz toying with the idea of a superfight by posting Tony Ferguson‘s picture was not a usual move and the MMA world went loud over it. Many people weighed on the fight being perfect, out of them, was UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping. Historically, Diaz did what he did because his potential fight with Vincente Luque seemed to halt at some point due to no contracts initiated.

Bisping came out live on Youtube to react and discuss many things MMA and some things popular around the world. This is a routine he carries out frequently on his Youtube channel launched this year. The first English UFC middleweight champion retired back in 2017 after losing his final bout to Kelvin Gastelum, followed by which he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2019.

“[Nate] Diaz, [Tony] Ferguson, judging where both are in their careers, I think that’s genius, I think that’s absolutely fantastic matchmaking,” said Bisping. “If I would’ve any say in it…I would send contracts out for that match immediately. I mean what a fight that is, two guys, massive profiles, two fan favourites, guys that go to war every single f**ing time, right? And they wanna fight each other!?” Bisping continued.

Bisping suggested that the fight can be done at 170 if it ever comes to works in the UFC so that Diaz could avoid cutting much weight. “I think it’s a really good fight for Ferguson because you know, he’s had a little fall from grace but to think that the guy can’t make a comeback…is disrespectful to what he did, we all know [Tony] Ferguson, the way he fights,” Bisping asserted.

Bisping was all praise for Ferguson’s way of using pace in his fights to wear out the opponent. But Bisping was also worried about Ferguson’s body functionality due to going into such lengthy wars coupled with a lot of bloodshed, something that he has to pay back for now as per Bisping. The Justin Gaethje fight where Tony had the first loss of his ongoing 3-fight losing streak is the absolute example of how taking so much damage in one fight can put your efficiency as a fighter at breaks.

As of now, UFC President Dana White has confirmed that Ferguson is not the person the company is talking with to arrange for Nate Diaz’s final fight under his current UFC contract. But let’s see if the tables could turn anytime soon because this is 2021 and all we’re having from now till the end of the year are exciting fights on pay-per-view.
