“Start SLAPPING him,” Belal Muhammad suggests the perfect gameplan for Nate Diaz for Khamzat Chimaev ahead of UFC 279

This fight will be the last fight for Diaz inside the UFC octagon and the majority of the MMA community thinks it's Chimaev's time so there's hardly a puncher's chance for Diaz in the odds as well.

Khamzat Chimaev- Belal Muhammad- Nate Diaz

Belal Muhammad is officially one of those few people, especially out of the pros to give decent chance to Nate Diaz to get a win next month over what could be the toughest fight of his career. Muhammad is a #5 ranked UFC welterweight who will be fighting in October when he will face undefeated prospect Sean Brady in a 3-round battle. Muhammad recently came to the news in relation to Diaz when the former offered the latter to train with him in the course of Diaz’s preparation for the Chimaev fight.

In the main event of UFC 279 next month, Diaz will be fighting the last UFC bout of his career when he will face Chimaev for a 5-round war at 170 lbs. Diaz’s reason for parting ways with the UFC comes from his desire to experiment with his stardom and explore more opportunities in combat sports, especially boxing. Diaz is a former UFC lightweight title challenger who’s known for his wins over the likes of Conor McGregor, Anthony Pettis, Michael Johnson, Gray Maynard, Jim Miller, Melvin Guillard, Donald Cerrone and many more.

Belal Muhammad roots for Nate Diaz to “ruin the plans”

Nate Diaz

In an interview with Helen Yee, Muhammad talks about his next fight with Sean Brady at UFC 280, his assessment of the UFC 280 main event between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev, his famous basketball showdown with Daniel Cormier and much more. In the midst of all Muhammad talks about his take on Diaz vs Chimaev being the main event at UFC 279 in September.

“I want Nate to ruin the plans,” says Muhammad “The UFC wants to see Chimaev, he’s the bigger name, one of the biggest names in the UFC right now so they want that Kamaru [the welterweight champion] against him fight. If Nate goes in there and he gets dominated like a lot of people are thinking then they’re gonna give it to Chimaev. But if Nate goes in there and puts on a fight he has a chance to win you know…”

Talking about an ideal game plan for Diaz to fight Chimaev, Muhammad came up with a pretty suitable strategy for a Diaz boy. “It’s one of those where he [Diaz] needs to go out there and get to Chimaev’s ego. Start slapping him a little bit, let him get angry, let him want to box with you, let him want to strike with you…” says Muhammad.

What do you make of Muhammad’s assessment of the Diaz-Chimaev scrap taking place next month? Who do you think will be winning? It’s surprising to see that while the MMA community solely believes that Chimaev will dominate Diaz ruthlessly from bell to bell, some professionals are giving Diaz a decent chance of winning. Are we counting Diaz out too heavily or is it really a high prime time for Chimaev and there’s just no stopping for the undefeated Swedish-Chechnyan fighter?
