Nate Diaz vs Leon Edwards was a wild fight. After having dominated the ‘Stockton Slugger’ for four solid rounds, Edwards had a massive scare in the final round. Towards the very end of the last round, a profusely bleeding Diaz hurt Edwards badly so much that he began to wobble. However, the bell saved Edwards, as he emerged unscathed, to win the fight via. unanimous decision

Speaking at the post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White showered praises on Nate Diaz for his tough-as-nails attitude. And when asked about his future in the UFC, White revealed that he was unsure, but acknowledged the fact that Diaz was a fan-favourite.

“His leg was done in the first round” – Dana White on Nate Diaz

White was quoted as saying, “His leg was done in the first round, he went five rounds taking leg kicks, bleeding out of both sides of his head. One was squirting this way, one way squirting this way. He was still doing what the Diaz brothers do. He was working the whole fight to get into his head and try to make him make a mistake, and then he eventually caught him in the fifth round. He’s unbelievable. He’s gonna be asking us for a six-round fight next time.”

He then concluded, “I don’t know (what the future holds). He’s a fan-favorite, people love him win, lose, or draw. I don’t know. We’ll see what’s next.”

Diaz will always be an entertainer. ‘The Stockton Slugger’ was coming back to the Octagon after almost 2 years, and delivered a performance with his same old intensity. It will be very wrong on the UFC’s part to release someone who has provided them with some of the most entertaining fights of all time.
