“I have the desire to go up to 135”- Deiveson Figueiredo is eagerly waiting to move up to the bantamweight division

Deiveson Figueiredo wants to face the winner of the Brandon Moreno vs Kai Kara-France fight in Brazil, and he wants to move up to bantamweight.

UFC’s flyweight champion, Deiveson Figueiredo is currently recovering from a hand injury, and he was expected to face Kai Kara-France next. Now that he’s out from the action, the UFC decided to book a fight between the former champion, Brandon Moreno, and the number one contender, Kai Kara-France for the interim flyweight title.

Figgy felt disrespected by this decision, and while was on his way to make a return inside the octagon, he parted ways with Henry Cejudo and started training in his home country of Brazil. He is now training with the former lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira at ‘Chute Boxing,’ and he also parted ways with his long-time manager Wallid Ismail.

Kai and Moreno are fighting for the interim flyweight title at the co-main event of UFC 277, and Figgy wants to face the winner of this fight in Brazil.

He also talked about moving up to the bantamweight division in a recent interview with MMA Fighting, he said, “I admit I have the desire to go up to 135. I don’t know when, only God knows that. As long as I’m having success at 125 and have someone to challenge me, rest assured that I’ll continue defending what’s mine.”

UFC’s bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling claimed his stake at the bantamweight title after beating Petr Yan twice, but Figgy believes he’ll lose his belt sooner than later. “I think it’s a matter of time until he loses this spot,” Figgy said. “There are some guys that are way better than him. If he collides with Jose Aldo, Jose Aldo knocks him out.”

Sterling is booked to defend his belt against TJ Dillashaw, and Figgy believes TJ has what it takes to dethrone the champ, “I’ve observed (Dillashaw) a lot, he’s very strategic and smart. When he fights for the belt again, he will win this title back,” Figgy concluded.
