Alex Pereira should tread carefully as his former rival Israel Adesanya is fired up to seek revenge for his past knockout defeat. The UFC middleweight champion and his nemesis were on the same stage last night at the UFC 276 press conference and things got heated.
UFC 276 is only a couple of days away and the hype for this pay-per-view event is through the roof. The card has a lot of amazing fights but two fights, in particular, will decide the future of the middleweight division. Israel Adesanya headlines the International Fight Week card at the T-Mobile arena against challenger Jared Cannonier. In the same event, fighting under Izzy is a very familiar face.
Alex Pereira is very new to the UFC and is already fighting in a title contender bout. The Brazilian fighter takes on Sean Strickland on the main card. Things got very heated between Alex, Izzy, and Sean in the press conference and the middleweight champion sent out a warning to his rival from his kickboxing days. Izzy has been taunted with questions and trolls about his knockout loss to Pereira in kickboxing but the champ makes a case that their rivalry is not one-sided.
Israel Adesanya won’t let Alex Pereira walk out of the octagon unscathed in MMA
“This guy [Alex] has beaten me twice in kickboxing and the funny thing is I asked you guys [the media] at the press conference, ‘Who’s actually watched the fight?’ Five people in a room full of 25 put their hands up, two of them were managers. So only 3 reporters have watched the fight,” Israel called out the media for allegedly painting a different picture of his rivalry with the Brazilian.
“Trust me, he knows I put him on skates last time. And this time when I put you on skates, Imma leave you frozen like Elsa,” said Izzy as he sent a warning to Pereira if he ever gets to fight Adesanya in the UFC octagon. Before Adesanya and Pereira can actually meet in the octagon for the middleweight title, the two have huge challenges in front of them at UFC 276 this weekend.
Alex has revealed that he is fully focused on Strickland for the moment and he is not thinking about his rivalry with Adesanya. However, Adesanya vs Pereira seems to be the favorite fight for the fans, the promotion, and also the respective fighters. Do you think Izzy is looking past Jared Cannonier in his quest to seek revenge?
