Khamzat Chimaev had the greatest 10 months anybody could ask for. After making a full recovery in his fight in a near-death covid battle, the Chechen returned to the Octagon, receiving a hero’s welcome in Abu Dhabi choking out the number 11 contender. He then went on to prove that he belongs with the top dogs after going toe to toe in a three-round slugfest against former title contender Gilbert Burns.

Now the Wolf has finally found his Luna and tied the knot in a private ceremony in his home of Chechnya. The ceremony that was attended by close friends and family only had one notable guest in Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of the Chechen republic.

As with all Muslim fighters from the Caucuses, Khamzat Chimaev chooses to keep his family away from unnecessary media attention hence the reason for the private ceremony. At 28 Chimaev finally decided to settle in life and married the woman of his dreams. It was infact Kadyrov who was among the first to publicize the news on his Instagram story.

In the past Chimaev was noted for his respect and love towards the women in his life who raised him, especially his mother and his aunt who is no longer. On one occasion Chimaev, full of emotion recalled the regret he lives with as he couldn’t find success soon enough to help gather money for his aunt’s treatment.

On the verge of tears, Chimaev said, “Before she died I promised my mom that I’ll be able to get a lot of money soon” to which his mother only wished that he’d have the money at that moment. “My aunt is in heaven and I hope she’s in a better place but I want to find success so I never have to lose someone, “ said the Chechen holding back tears. Any woman in his life can surely be assured she’ll be treated right

Chimaev is also aiming to cap off the year with an interim title bout against Leon Edwards now that Kamaru Usman is scheduled to be out of action for some time due to a lingering hand injury. He has also expressed his intent to have a huge money fight against Nate Diaz or Conor McGregor. We wish the young groom and his bride a very happy married life with years of prosperity ahead.
