Jamahal Hill is a threat to the light heavyweight division as he proves his worth against veteran Thiago Santos. However, Jamahal’s brutal knockout at UFC Vegas 59 was shadowed by Herb Dean’s horrific refereeing. Fans and pros alike were very disappointed with how the fight ended and went in on the referee for a late stoppage.
Jamahal Hill is a light heavyweight fighter that is on the rise to the top of the 205 division. “Sweet Dreams” was faced with his toughest challenge in headlining an event against former title contender Thiago Santos in the main event of UFC Vegas 59. Jamahal wasn’t looking his best at the beginning of the fight as the veteran put on the pressure against the up-and-comer. However, there was only so much that Santos could take from the powerful light heavyweight.
Santos shouldn’t be discouraged after this performance as the two went to war for four rounds. Jamahal and Thiago were throwing haymakers in the fourth round. The fight went to the ground and Santos was completely exhausted from taking punishment from the youngster. Jamahal laid some massive blows on Thiago from the back. Herb Dean, the referee for UFC Vegas 59’s main event fight had the liberty to stop the fight earlier as Santos was completely defenseless.
Herb still watched Jamahal go to town on the legendary fighter and took a little too long to stop the fight. There were other controversial moments in the fight when one of the fighters went on to grab the fence. This fight truly showed that a Jamahal can dig out a win from deep waters.
This was Jamahal’s first five-round event and there is no doubt that Hill is made for more of such fights. Hill has only one loss in his professional career and only one fight of Hill has gone the distance. It is no surprise that some of the biggest names in the sport, tuned in to watch the light heavyweight fighter do what he always does best.
