Costa’s last fight in the octagon came against Marvin Vettori in October 2021 at UFC Vegas 41. The Brazilian lost the fight via unanimous decision after fighting a close five-round fight. Costa is now 13-2-0 in his professional MMA career and is looking to get another title shot to avenge his first loss to Israel Adesanya.

Paulo’s initial target was to fight rising middleweight Sean Strickland but later his focus shifted towards top-ranked Derek Brunson. After a couple of back-and-forths with Brunson, Costa continued to taunt his rival with memes and several call-outs.

In one of the tweets directed towards Derek, Costa posted an image of La’Darius Marshall from the show “Cheer” and captioned the image with “Derek F*G Brunson. Fight me b*tch”. Costa received a lot of backlash for this slur but that did not stop the fighter from posting controversial memes. Who do you think should Paulo Costa fight next?
