Israel Adesanya was the reigning UFC champion and was ruling the promotion from the top. But at UFC 281 everything came crashing down when Izzy lost his title fight against Alex Pereira.
Adesanya failed to continue his winning streak and Pereira shocked the world by becoming the new champ. Both fighters have a rivalry that ages back to their Kickboxing days and it seems like it’s far from over. After mutually agreeing on their rematch, the pair will be meeting each at UFC 287 on April 8 and the Brazilian couldn’t wait for their day.
When it comes to playing mind games and outside-the-octagon antics, Pereira is quite uniquely capable of it. Recently, the champion posted a sparring clip. In the caption, Pereira wrote, “ 22/07/1989-08/04/2023.“ Which are Izzy’s birth date and the date of their rematch.
Pereira added a coffin emoji right next to the second date implying that it would be Izzy’s death date. It’s pretty scary to consider that Pereira thinks that on 8th April he’s going to end Izzy’s career forever.

Dricus Du Plessis wants to wait until the upcoming fight between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira and then challenge Adesanya
The UFC Middleweight division is finally active and has new fighters fighting for the title shot. One of them is the new rising star Dricus Du Plessis. The South African is currently on an amazing five-fight win streak and recently defeated Derek Brunson at UFC 285. du Plessis is now one of the top middleweights in UFC and wants to fight with the former champion, Israel Adesanya next.
In the post-fight press conference at UFC 285, du Plessis revealed that he is currently eyeing UFC 287 and will be waiting to fight Izzy next. The fighter wants a title shot of a number one contender fights next.
He said: “I think they’re waiting to see what happens with Izzy and Pereira. If Izzy wins this fight with Pereira, I’m the only guy in the top five he hasn’t fought, so that makes sense. If Pereira wins, I’m not sure what they want to do, but at the end of the day, it’s probably going to be a No.1-contender fight or a title shot. I’m happy with either of those.” At UFC 287, a lot of questions will get answered and it’s going to be interesting to see if Izzy manages to take his revenge against his number-one rival of all time.
