Dana White and Nate Diaz might have had a lot of turbulence in their long relationship as fighters and promoters but the respect between the two never diminished and the recent footage from the Diaz brother is proof of that.
Not long ago, the world witnessed the legendary Nate Diaz fight for the last time inside the UFC octagon at UFC 279. The lead-up to that farewell fight was not the smoothest but when has a Diaz fight ever been a smooth ride? Diaz’s final fight had all the elements one would expect from the Stockton fighter’s bout.
Dana White and the fighter had several disputes leading up to the fight but after it was all said and done, White couldn’t help but walk backstage and embrace the fighter who has been with the UFC since 2007. After looking after Diaz’s leg which was hurt badly during the Tony Ferguson fight, White gave a very emotional goodbye to the Stockton Slugger.
“You know this is your house. Whatever you need. It’s your house, kid,” said White to Diaz. “If you wanna hang out, let’s hang out,” said Diaz as he shook hands and embraced the UFC boss. White also shook hands with the senior Diaz brother who is also another superstar in the promotion’s history.
What is next for Nate Diaz after UFC?
Though Diaz did not entirely rule out the possibility of not returning to the UFC, fans are confident that Nate’s fight against Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 was the last we will all see of the superstar in the UFC octagon. The Stockton Slugger has expanded his brand and has started his own promotion.
The fighter has revealed he wants to dedicate his time to building his promotion. Other options for the superstar include exhibition boxing matches and other fighting options which have been on Diaz’s wishlist. One of the biggest opponents for Diaz outside of UFC is Jake Paul, the YouTube boxer who has been a huge success in the boxing scene.
