Uriah Hall better come prepared as his opponent for UFC Vegas 33, Sean Strickland has been training hard for this battle. Sean reveals that he has been training with the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev from Chechnya.
UFC Vegas 33 is headlined by a middleweight battle between Uriah Hall and Sean Strickland. Strickland has a lot of respect for UFC’s welterweight monster Khamzat Chimaev after running down training sessions with him. Strickland is currently on a four-fight winning streak and is looking to extend that to five. Sean calls Chimaev one of the best training partners in his life.
Recently, ahead of the fight, Sean was on the show with MMA interviewer, James Lynch. In the interview, he spoke about his training sessions with Khamzat. “He was in town for a few weeks,” Strickland said of Chimaev. Khamzat currently has a record of 9-0-0 in his professional career and is a fan-favorite already. All of his wins have come from finishes.
Sean Strickland says Khamzat Chimaev is a fighter he’s never seen
“He was fun. We had good f*cking wars. He’s the kind of guy that, as far as a training partner goes, fits the bill for me. He doesn’t stop, he trains f*cking hard. He’s another guy if you’re fighting him, it has to be to the death. You can’t go in there thinking, ‘I’m going to point fight you and win.’ Like no, you have to go in there saying ‘one of us is going to die.’ If you don’t have that mindset, he’s going to f*cking steamroll you,” said Strickland.
Sean also had high praise for the welterweight and called him special. “This kid is special. He’s different than any fighter I’ve ever seen. I’ve been in the business for a very long time, I’ve seen a lot of greats come and go. This kid is absolutely special and I’ve never seen anything like it.” Sean and Uriah will fight at the UFC Apex, in Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend.
