Tim Elliott fought Matheus Nicolau at the main card of UFC Vegas 39. After three hard-fought rounds, Tim lost the fight via 29-28 unanimous decision, and his coach believes he is responsible for this loss.

The fight was really close but Nicolau really exploded in the last rounds, thanks to his aggressive onslaught and a takedown in the third round, he got the edge over Elliott just in time. Tim’s coach believes he gave him wrong advice that cost him that fight.

He posted a photo of Tim from his Instagram account and wrote; I made a huge coaching error tonight that I’m sure is going to haunt me for some time to come. Going into the 3rd round I thought for 100% sure we took 1 and 2. Regardless of if that was true or not I should have pushed Tim to work up in the 3rd… and I didn’t.”

He added, “Win, lose, or draw I’m so proud of the improvements that Tim has made in the last year. His willingness to learn and be coached is what makes him so incredible.”
