Dillashaw and Sandhagen produced a fight for the ages and in the end ‘Lieutenant Dan’ won the fight by a split decision. This win is special for TJ Dillashaw, as he stepped into the Octagon after facing a suspension for two years and after the win, he had only one thing on his mind, i.e. to win his title back.

Talking about it in the post-fight press conference of UFC Vegas 32, Dillashaw says, “I want my belt back, “It’s my belt. I want it back. I wasn’t impressed with Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan’s last fight. I think Yan’s going to get the win in the rematch, Aljamain did not look very good, and that’s who I see fighting next.”

Dillashaw also revealed that he got multiple injuries during the training camp before entering into this fight and he details about it saying, “The May 8 camp went smooth – other than getting cut, I was able to spar,”

“The second camp around, I could not stay healthy. The first injury was I pinched this nerve in my foot doing a slider board, and up until two days ago, I had to work out with shoes on. Then I tore my MCL in my right knee and hurt my left shoulder. So it was a real rough camp.”

TJ Dillashaw added, “I didn’t want to talk about it, because I didn’t want to make any excuses. I just needed to get out there. It was too f-in long. There was no way I was going to pull out from the fight.”

TJ Dillashaw wants to wait for his title shot now

The UFC Bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling verbally agreed to face Petr Yan for the rematch on 30th October at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi. That means Dillashaw will have to wait almost till next year to fight for the title again.

TJ Dillashaw will not only wait for this shot, he’s even happy to serve as a backup fighter for Sterling vs Yan’s fight. He added, “I’ve done what I’ve done for myself and for my family,”

“I’m happier that my son got to watch me win tonight. I forgot to give him a shoutout on the mic afterward, and I’m regretting that, but I could care less what anyone else thinks. If you care what anyone else thinks about you in this world, you’re doing the wrong things.”
