A much-anticipated middleweight matchup between Julian Marquez and Jordan Wright is canceled from UFC Vegas 40.

Julian Marquez and Jordan Wright had agreed to fight each other in what would have been a very interesting middleweight battle at UFC Vegas 40. The fight has unfortunately been canceled since Marquez has been forced to pull out of the fight due to health issues.

According to several reports, Marquez does not have any COVID-19 related problems. This news was announced only on Friday by the promotion officials. “The Cuban Missile Crisis” is coming off two consecutive wins in the UFC. Both of them being submissions, Julian was looking forward to extending his winning streak. He has a record of 9-2-0 in his professional MMA career.

UFC middleweight Jordan Wright who was scheduled to fight Marquez is left out with no possible backup options to fight. The poor fighter even made weight yesterday and successfully weighed 184.5 pounds. The fighter is coming off a stunning KO win against Jamie Pickett at UFC 262 in the very first round. The fighter has a record of 12-1-0 in his professional career.

With the Marquez vs Wright matchup ruled out, UFC Vegas 40 is left with only 10 fights on the card. The card was initially supposed to be headlined by former champion Holly Holm but later replaced with Aspen Ladd vs Norma Dumont in the main event. The event takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
