This week’s pre-taped edition of SmackDown saw the MFTs up against Sami Zayn, Rey Fenix, Shinsuke Nakamura, and The Motor City Machine Guns duke it out in a traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series elimination match. Some key spots in it involved Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin double-teaming on JC Mateo as the first elimination.

Tama Tonga drew the first blood for the MFTs by hitting Nakamura with the Cut Throat finishing maneuver. The babyfaces took the lead once again after Fenix pinned Tonga Loa with a Hurricanrana cover. It was the turn for the MFT giant Talla Tonga to stamp his authority as he eliminated Shelley after hitting him with a chokeslam on the ring apron.

The erstwhile Hikuleo also downed the other MCMG half, Sabin, soon afterwards. Next, Fenix succumbed to Tama Tonga, who, in turn, got eliminated after a Helluva Kick to the face by Sami Zayn.

The towering Talla Tonga got himself counted out after falling into the timekeeper’s area. It was down to Zayn and the MFT leader Solo Sikoa as the final two men remaining in that match.

And for what it’s worth, ‘The Street Champion’ hit the former ‘Honorary Uce’ with the Samoan Spike to emerge as the solo survivor. As Sikoa was celebrating, the lights went off, and out came The Wyatt Sicks. The crowd popped big for the return of Uncle Howdy, who nailed the former Bloodline enforcer with the Sister Abigail.

The seeds for a multi-person feud between the MFTs and the Wyatts were planted a while ago, but Howdy’s on-screen absence was hurting the story’s progress.

At one point, there was a hint of speculation about these two sides possibly meeting inside the WarGames structure at Survivor Series. However, that’s not the case anymore, and they’re expected to feud in the upcoming weeks on the blue brand.

Who advanced in The Last Time is Now tournament on SmackDown?

Apart from the final WarGames buildup for Survivor Series, this week’s SmackDown featured the continuation of The Last Time is Now tournament. In the first quarterfinal of the night, Jey Uso put away Rusev to get one step closer to facing John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.

Also, LA Knight got past The Miz, who cheated his way back into the tournament as the replacement for Sheamus.

‘The A-Lister’ surreptitiously put his name chit into the ball Nick Aldis had withdrawn at random. The fans slammed WWE for such a lackluster backup option for ‘The Celtic Warrior’ and argued that the company could’ve used an underutilized talent or even an NXT upstart to fill in those shoes.

However, since the show was taped last week, WWE would’ve been aware of the fact that they wouldn’t be able to keep a surprise with thousands of fans recording stuff in the arena. Nonetheless, Miz got ousted by Knight, who will face Jey Uso in the semifinals.

On the other hand, Solo Sikoa, who was the last man standing after the traditional Survivor Series elimination match on SmackDown as discussed above, is slated to face Gunther in the other semifinal contest of the tournament. It’d be interesting to see who would make it to the end and earn the right to stand across from Cena in his last-ever WWE match.
