Update on WWE’s “India Special”

WWE is planning to launch their NXT brand in India. Reportedly, NXT India will be launching on 26th of January, with Jinder Mahal being the star attraction.

WWE has been planning a new division featuring their Indian wrestlers, since quite some time now. India has been a huge market for WWE, and their “India Special” plan is to capitalize on this market. This is supposed to be a long-term WWE project, which has been delayed multiple times.

It is being reported that finally the NXT brand is being launched in India. A report on Sportskeeda mentions that WWE NXT India will be launching on 26th January, 2021. The day also marks India’s Republic Day.

The shows will be taped at WWE’s Performance Center in Florida, with the pilot being taped on 22nd January. NXT India will be airing on linear television in India and also be available on the WWE Network.

Apart from the NXT India plans, WWE also plans to host an Asia show, featuring talents from Singapore, China and Japan.

Currently, WWE has quite a few superstars who could feature on WWE NXT India. Former WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal is likely to be the biggest star on the show. Mahal has been missing from the main roster due to an injury. The India Special could be the perfect opportunity for him to make a return.

Jinder Mahal could be accompanied by the Singh Brothers. In addition to them, wrestlers from NXT and their trainees from Performance Center – Shanky Singh, Indus Sher and Jeet Rama are likely to appear too.
