Murray had a potentially career-ending hip injury in late 2017 and he went through surgery in January 2018. After a tearful 2019 Australian Open, Murray had a hip resurfacing surgery which has revived his tennis career. Now, after a 20-month hiatus, the Scot is all fit and ready to enjoy tennis again.

In a conversation with Reuters, Murray emphasised on how is his ‘hip’ condition now and how he has been feeling after playing a few matches.

“Last time I was here I played a couple of good matches, but it wasn’t that enjoyable for me because the hip was really not good. Now, like in the matches I played last week, I felt pretty good on the court in terms of my body,Murray said.

Murray had squashed Alexander Zverev in the Western & Southern Open last week. This marked his first triumph over a Top-10 player since 2017. Also, he is quite hopeful of his body holding up to the stresses of Grand Slam tennis in the weeks ahead.

“Although the matches were still difficult and stressful, still enjoyable to be out there competing because my body was actually feeling okay. Hopefully that will be the case again next week,” he said. “To go out there on such a huge stadium and have literally no one in the stands is going to be weird. But I’m just looking forward to getting to compete in a Slam again,” he added.
