Indian tennis star- Sumit Nagal won his first round match against Bradley Klahn by 6-1, 6-3, 3-6 and 6-1. The top ranked Indian tennis player will now face the 2nd seed, Dominic Thiem in 2nd round of US Open.

Nadal was quite vocal and confident before the game, “I feel like I am playing very good tennis. I have worked a lot in the last four-five months and feel pretty good about it. I am looking forward to my first main draw match (at a Grand Slam) this year.”

Sumit Nagal was in full control against Klahn throughout the match. In the very first set the Indian broke Klahn thrice to gain momentum which proved to be enough for the whole match. The unforced errors from Klahn made it even more easier for the 23 years old.

Nagal was praised for the worthy effort of taking 1 set to his name against Roger Federer in US Open 2019. Now he has became the first Indian in seven years to win a singles main draw match at a Grand Slam.

Sumit Nagal’s journey is going to be difficult now, as he will face Austria’s Dominic Thiem, one of the top contender to win US Open. He will have to play some of the best tennis of his life to put a competition against Thiem.
