Sure you have played Valorant for hours that show on your twitch wall. But have you noticed some scattered innuendos while practicing in Range and explored using ghost mode when bored? Valorant Duality will quench your thirst soon. We would be lying if we said it wasn’t evident at some point that Valorant is more than just another video game.
With all the background stories on player cards to innovative trailers, it had crossed our mind at some point or the other, did Valorant have all of this planned for ages, and now it’s telling a story? Well, you would be right. The article talks about Valorant Duality and the story it’s trying to tell.
Valorant Duality: A Rewind
Valorant Duality is a video that had been live-streamed yesterday during the nail-biting VCT finals and caught the audience in awe. The teaser starts with a piece of news breaking out all over the world of Italy facing a disaster, and a Wanted Poster of Jett with Phoenix. Apparently, it all started with a part of Italy rising up, giving us the map “Ascent”, as we had earlier witnessed in the map’s trailer.
Radianite, the infamous substance produced by the Kingdom Company for generating power has a play in the disaster but Kingdom seems not to be involved. The video backdrop was in the B site of Bind and showed Killjoy trying to defuse the spike while Viper and Phoenix assisted her. Just a regular story, you would say. What catches the eye is, Phoenix meeting his lookalike and being stunned when Viper concludes it’s time to fill him in with the details, after having a talk with Brimstone.
“How come they look like us? And what do they want our Radianite for?” asked Phoenix. The story details that Spike steals Radianite from the environment and it is clearly visible the video ends with a clone world, confirming the Mirrorverse Theory. Valorant Duality suggests Valorant will go into further details than two worlds fighting for Radianite, and we might be the unaware Phoenix who will get filled in with all the information from the past.
There are two types of groups in Valorant, namely the Radiants and the Agents, with Radiants gaining supernatural powers upon exposure to Radianite, and Agents trying to stop them from misusing the power. The fight for Radianite gives birth to the game Valorant.
It might be worth mentioning that the cube named Power source was green at the beginning like the Containers on-site, but changed to orange after being superheated, like the containers in the Beta version of the game. Could we be travelling back through time?
The video takes place on Bind, but with a few tweaks, probably suggesting some map changes to come in Bind as well. It was evident from the alpha version of Valorant that the game takes place in post-apocalyptic near-future earth in the year 2053, although the year was removed in the Beta version, and later in the Duelists video as well as the Duality video, it shows the Year 2049 in Roman Numerals. Maybe Valorant Duality is the start of the ride in the time machine to finally get a backstory on the insanely detailed game.
