In terribly tragic news, Indian women’s team cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy‘s sister has succumbed to the COVID-19 virus, just two weeks after her mother also passed away due to the disease. According to reports from Sportstar, her 45-year-old sister breathed her last at a private hospital in Chikkamagaluru in Karnataka on Wednesday night. The cricketer has not spoken about the devastating news yet.

The second wave of COVID-19 has hit India hard and cases are multiplying by the day. More than 4 lakh cases per day have become normalcy and the number of fatalities are increasing as well. There is a perpetual state of panic and uncertainty due to various acute problems like those of shortage of oxygen and the unavailability of beds for patients due to the huge volume of daily cases.

It is noteworthy that Veda Krishnamurthy’s mother also passed away due to COVID-19 two weeks ago. While announcing the news on her Twitter handle, the cricketer had stated that her sister also was affected and that they were praying for her.

“Appreciate all the messages I have received about the loss of my Amma. As you can imagine my family is lost without her. We now pray for my sister. “I have tested negative & appreciate if you can respect our privacy. My thoughts & prayers go out to those going through the same!,” Veda had written.

Now, the loss of her sister only adds to the tragic news. Fans and cricketers have poured out their support on social media for the bereaved cricketer and are continuing to do so.
