The fight was the first PPV event for a major sporting event in India. It was available for a cost of Rs.99 in BookMyShow. The loss would have caused widespread disappointment among the Indian boxing fans, who purchased the PPV. After the defeat, Vijender took to Twitter to acknowledge his loss.

Lopsan uses tall frame to his advantage!

‘It’s happened some time’, Vijender tweeted.

Right from the beginning of the first round Lopsan came straight into Vijender, firing on all cylinders. The Russian used his 6ft 4in frame to his advantage, as he outpunched the Haryana based boxer, tiring him in the early rounds of the fight. Vijender didn’t do much to avoid getting punched, as he looked clearly hurt and rattled. He was then knocked out after 1 minute and 9 seconds into the fifth round.
