Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have been one of the sides that have always boasted off the most exciting of talents. However, unfortunately, they haven’t been able to get their hands on the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy in the tournament’s history. Something or the other has gone wrong in each of the years which has led to the team and its captain Virat Kohli still searching for the elusive first trophy.

The side had a good start to their IPL season last year before a late slump meant that they just about managed to scrape through to the playoffs. They were then eliminated in the Eliminator against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). This year, having made a plethora of good buys including those of Glenn Maxwell and Kyle Jamieson, the side would want to come back stronger and aim for the trophy.

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers arrived in Chennai yesterday where the first leg of RCB’s IPL 2021 will take place. “It feels surreal. Honestly, it doesn’t feel like we went away for too long as there was a lot of cricket in between as well but yeah, very excited that we are playing in India again. Although in a different way, in a different setting. I am very optimistic and yes I have a good feeling this time around,” Kohli said.

“It was a long journey. Very happy to be back with RCB, it feels like yesterday that we finished the IPL. I feel we have the momentum from the last tournament and we’ll have a lot of fun. There are some new names but also old names, the people I have known for ages. Dan (Christian) has been with RCB before, it’s Maxi’s (Maxwell) first time but we all have seen him so often in the IPL, hopefully, a lot of games for us to win together,” AB de Villiers said.

RCB will begin their IPL campaign against the Mumbai Indians on the 9th of April.
