At this juncture, it is vaccination which has been the need of the hour and the same is being done extensively at the moment with people from all walks of life getting their shots. In a similar vein, sportspersons and cricketers have also been getting theirs. For the Indian cricketers, they have been advised to take the Covishield vaccine ahead of their trip to the UK for the Test season, following the suspension of the IPL 2021 due to the pandemic.

The tournament had to be suspended due to COVID-19 cases breaching the teams’ bio-bubbles and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had no choice but to call off the tournament indefinitely. The early suspension meant that players could take their vaccine shots early and that is exactly what they have been doing.

Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shikhar Dhawan get vaccinated

The Indian cricketers have been taking to their social media handles to share pictures of themselves getting vaccinated in order to urge all people to take their shots as soon as possible. Opener Shikhar Dhawan was the first to get vaccinated and he wrote, “Vaccinated. Can’t thank all our frontline warriors enough for their sacrifices and dedication. Please do not hesitate and get yourself vaccinated as soon as possible. It’ll help us all defeat this virus.”
