Watch: Lionel Messi comes up with a sublime finish as his chemistry with De Jong continues

Lionel Messi looks in a mood tonight against Getafe FC as the FC Barcelona captain scored his second goal of the night just 31 minutes into the game. The match has been a treat to eyes for football fans as the thirty minutes of constant end to end football which led to three goals in a quick succession was a delight to watch.

After Lionel Messi scored his first goal of the night holding a graciously placed assist by Sergio Busquets, a comedy of errors saw both the sides conceding one own goal each within a gap of less than ten minutes.

Clement Lenglet was the first to make the error, allowing Getafe to score the equalizer in the 12th minute. However, his own goal had very less to be blamed about as Getafe’s Angel delivered a pin perfect cross into the box which bounced off the Frenchman into the net.

Getafe’s S Chakla, who nearly conceded a penalty in the 8th minute having pulled Lionel Messi, scored the second own goal. The reason- an uncalled for mix-up at the back. Chakla passed back to Soria under pressure, not realising that the keeper is off the line. Soria fails to scramble back in time and is too late.

The Messi-De Jong chemistry continues as the duo mustered another beautiful goal 10 minutes before half time. A high defensive clearance by the Getafe Defenders is received by the Dutch midfielder who headed the ball into Messi’s way. The Argentinian finished in the most sublime way, half volleying it past the keeper for his second goal of the night.
