WATCH: “Remembered forever”- KKR’s Rinku Singh almost power KKR to victory; departs after a sensational knock vs LSG

Rinku Singh and Sunil Narine

Lucknow Supergiants beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 2 runs despite Rinku Singh’s brilliant knock, on Wednesday, May 18 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

KKR openers Venkatesh Iyer was sent back for a duck by Mohsin Khan while Abhijeet Tomar had gone after scoring 4 runs. But Nitish Rana then smashed 42 runs in 22 balls with 9 fours to revive KKR’s innings. They were glibly chasing the runs with Shreyas Iyer’s quick 29-ball half-century.

But then came Rinku Singh’s quickfire. Facing just 15 balls, Rinku smacked 40 runs in just 15 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes. The match result would have been different had not Marcus Stoinis’ full ball sent Rinku back in the 2nd last ball of the penultimate over with Evin Lewis picking a sensational catch.

LSG beat KKR in a thriller

Quinton de Kock

With the help of Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul’s 210-run stand-in, LSG created history by being the first team ever to score these many runs without losing the wicket.
Quinton de Kock had played a 70-ball 140* with 10 fours and 10 sixes. While KL Rahul scored 68 runs.

In the post-match ceremony, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer said: “I love the way Rinku got us till the end but unfortunately couldn’t time it when two balls were remaining, he was really sad. I was hoping he could finish the game for us and could have been the hero, but still played a fantastic knock and I am really happy for him.
