Watford vs Chelsea Player Ratings

Eduoard Mendy (6.5/10) – The Chelsea shot-stopper pulled off a brilliant save in the first half. Joao Pedro attacked the ball but it caught a deflection and headed towards the far post but Mendy was there to make a sharp save. He made a good save against Kucka late on.

Andreas Christensen (6/10) – The Danish international was doubtful to start the game given the contract troubles he’s having with the club. He got in some good clearances at crucial junctions.

Trevoh Chalobah (6.5/10) – The young defender pulled out a fine block in the initial minutes. Joao Pedro got a good shot away at the far post but Trevoh Chalobah was there to put in a diving block.

Antonio Rudiger (6.5/10) – Not his best performance for sure but Rudiger got in an important contribution for the goal. He dunked the ball over to Marcos Alonso which eventually led to the goal.

Marcos Alonso (5.5/10) – Marcos Alonso was once again extremely slow on the left flank. He left wide spaces behind which was exploited by Cleverley in the first half.

Cesar Azpilicueta (5.5/10) – A disappointing evening for the Spanish international. He was sloppy in possession and got too many wrong passes. He needs to improve his passing accuracy.

Saul Niguez (5/10) – A horrid game from Saul Niguez who is finding life difficult in the Premier League. Much like his previous performances, Saul Niguez was once again not good and too slow.

Ruben Loftus Cheek (6.5/10) – The midfielder was not at his best tonight losing out on the ball far too many times. Moreover, he also was directly at fault after giving the ball away for Dennis to score.

Mason Mount (8.5/10) – Probably the only Chelsea player who looked positive in the first half. Mason Mount hit the post initially but made absolutely no mistake once he was found by Kai Havertz as he slotted the ball into the bottom left corner. Additionally, he got the assist for Hakim Ziyech’s goal.

Christian Pulisic (6/10) – The American international still didn’t look like he is 100% fit. Pulisic was trying a lot but still lacks the clinical product. He was fouled a lot of times as well. Pulisic got a good pass for Havertz whose goal was offside.

Kai Havertz (7/10) – Kai Havertz got in the assist for Mason Mount after a cool pass to find Mount. He also had the ball in the back of the net but it was called null after being declared offside. He was making good runs behind the Watford defence

Thiago Silva (7/10) – The Brazilian defender was brought on in place of Saul Niguez. He was really a calming presence for the visitors as he organised the backline well.

Hakim Ziyech(8/10) – Hakim Ziyech came on in the 60th minute to replace the injured Trevoh Chalobah. His finish was one of high composure as he brilliantly connected with his left foot.

Romelu Lukaku (6/10) – Romelu Lukaku made his way to replace Cesar Azpilicueta. His hold up play helped Chelsea in the final third.

Daniel Bachmann (6.5/10) – The Watford goalie didn’t have much to do in the first half and there was nothing he could do for the goal. He made a good grab after Azpilicueta had dinked the ball for Pulisic.

William Troost-Ekong (6/10) – Troost Ekong made some rough challenges especially one against Christian Pulisic. He made a good clearance after the cross from Kai Havertz.

Craig Cathcart (6.5/10) – A good performance from the centre back today. He was physically dominant and made the going tough for Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic. His positioning was good as well.

Imran Louza (6.5/10) – Louza was getting into some good spaces for the hosts and creating opportunities. He drew in the fouls from the Chelsea players.

Adam Masina (5/10) – Masina had a disappointing game as he was substituted in the first half. He was replaced by left-back Danny Rose.

Kiko Femenía (6.5/10) – The right-back for Watford was advancing well and getting good crosses into the box. One of those came off Cesar Azpilicueta and Eduoard Mendy had to be quick to react.

Moussa Sissoko(7/10) -. A great game by the former Tottenham Hotspur man. He was ever-present in the midfield and totally got the better of Saul and Ruben Loftus Cheek.

Tom Cleverley (6.5/10) – Tom Cleverley exploited Marcos Alonso very well tonight. He set up a great opportunity for Pedro after pocketing Alonso and delivering a fine cross.

Joshua King(6/10) – A below-average game for the Norwegian international. The striker wasn’t able to get as many shots away as he would’ve wanted. Joshua King didn’t make good runs to get into the box.

João Pedro (7/10) – The Brazilian forward was bright from the onset and looked to trouble the Chelsea defence. Joao Pedro had a good shot on target which was blocked away by Trevoh Chalobah.

Emmanuel Dennis(7.5/10) – What a fantastic job by Dennis. He was a constant threat to the Chelsea defence. A cool calm finish into the far post after getting away from Antonio Rudiger.

Danny Rose (7/10) – The left-back came on in the first half and was very bright. He had a great shot on target after a good connection on the volley.

Juraj Kucka – Kucka had a good shot away late on after being set up at the edge of the box. His shot was deflected for a corner. He forced a good save off a free-kick.

Jeremy Ngakia – N/A
