Current Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that during his stay at Paris Saint Germain he wanted to sign Manchester United and Portuguese international Bruno Fernandes.
Bruno Fernandes was pursued by Paris Saint Germain
Now Tuchel and his men will be kept with the job of keeping Bruno Fernandes quiet when he visits Stamford Bridge on Sunday night. The Portuguese is the talisman for Manchester United and every attacking play goes through him.
Thomas Tuchel has said that he was advised to purchase Bruno Fernandes when he was Paris Saint Germain but that deal wasn’t successful. Fernandes joined United in the January transfer window of the 2019/20 season and has been their most important player ever since.
According to Thomas Tuchel then PSG sporting director Antero Henrique alerted Tuchel about the talents and potential of the Sporting Lisbon player. The German believes that Bruno Fernandes is one of the best players across Europe and has the utmost respect for him. He’s stressed on the fact that the way Bruno Fernandes has impacted such a big club requires a lot of class.
With my first sporting director in Paris, Antero Henrique, a Portuguese sporting director, and he knew [Fernandes] very well,” Chelsea boss Tuchel told reporters ahead of Sunday’s match.
“We fought hard to have a connection to him and to bring him to our team. I got made aware of him more in detail, so we watched more and more games about him and followed him and tried to be in touch with him to make it happen.
“Obviously, he decided [to sign for Man Utd] and I was never personally in touch with him, but we tried and he went another way. [It is] bad for us that we have to play against him.”
