Superteams in the NBA fail due to various reasons such as chemistry issues, injuries, coaching, and inability to adapt to changing circumstances.

The Lakers' attempt to form a superteam with Nash and Howard in 2012 failed. Injuries and poor fit with Kobe resulted in a first-round playoff sweep by San Antonio.

LA Lakers (2012-13)

The Nets' acquisition of Garnett and Pierce in 2013 was a mistake. The aging stars didn't perform, and the Nets suffered. The Celtics, however, benefitted greatly from the trade.

Brooklyn Nets (2013-14)

OKC added George and Anthony to help Westbrook post-KD's departure. George shone, but Anthony's ball-stopping disrupted team's rhythm. Despite entering playoffs, they exited in round one twice.

OkC Thunder (2017-18)

The Brooklyn Nets were touted as one of the best teams in NBA history with Durant, Irving, and Harden. However, injuries and ego clashes led to their downfall, ultimately resulting in dismantling of the team.

Brooklyn Nets (2019-23)

The Lakers' trade for Westbrook in 2021, to pair with James and Davis, was a failure. Westbrook's performance declined, Davis was injured, and the supporting cast was weak, resulting in no playoff appearances.
