7 Most successful women at the French Open

Serena Williams is a 3-time winner at the Roland Garros. The 22-time major winner won the title in Paris in 2002, 2013,  and 2015 to become one of the most successful players at the Grand Slam.

Monica Seles remains the youngest champion at the French Open holding the record for more than 3 decades. Seles was 16 years and 6 months old when she won the title in 1990 and went on to win it again in 1991 and 1992.

Arantxa Sanchez Vicario is also a 3-time winner at the Roland Garros. The Spaniard claimed the title in 1989, 1994 and 1998 to etch her name in the history of the Grand Slam.

Margaret Court is a 5-time French Open champion winning the major twice in the Amateur Era and thrice in the Open Era. The most successful Grand Slam champion won the major in 1962, 1964, 1969, 1970, and 1973.

Justine Henin with her 4 titles in the Open Era is third on the list. The Belgian great won 4 titles in the space of 5 years claiming the wins in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007. Henin remains the last women to make a successful French Open title defense going into the 2023 season. 

German great Steffi Graf stamped her authority at the French Open as well. Graf won 6 titles during her illustrious career making a title defense on two separate occasions. Graf won the major in 1987, 1988, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1999.

Chris Evert remains the most successful French Open champion. The American won the title a record 7 times. Of her 18 career titles in singles, she won the most in Paris. Evert won the title in 1974, 1975, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1985, and 1986.
