Explained:  Mexican boxer  Canelo Alvarez threatens  Lionel Messi for  “disrespecting” Mexico

Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, has received threats from Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez for allegedly disgracing his nation.

Alvarez took offence at the celebration video where the Argentine forward was seen using his foot to push away a Mexican jersey.

"Have you seen Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag?" Canelo who has won world championships in four different weight classes over the course of his career believes Messi's actions were deliberate and tweeted about it.

He should ask to God that I don't find him!" In a subsequent Tweet, Alvarez included two fist emojis, a furious red face, and a flame.

The Argentina captain seemed to to kick a Mexico shirt that was on the ground as Messi chanted and removed his boots. As the Argentines celebrated in the locker room, the shirt was on the ground.

Sergio Kun Aguero, a former forward for Argentina, stepped up to Messi's defense. “Mr. Canelo, don’t go finding excuses or creating trouble, certainly you don’t know soccer or what happens in a locker room,”  he said on Twitter.
