Two of the greatest Premier League managers ever, Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson are two unique architects who led Arsenal and Manchester United to enormous laurels. Let us try and compare the two genius’ careers:
PL Win Percentage-During his time in Premier League, Arsene Wenger won 57.2% of the matches that he managed. On the other hand, Sir Alex Ferguson won more than 59.8% of all the games that he managed.
Premier League Era- During his spell with Manchester United, Sir Alex won 13 league titles, setting dominance over English football in his own time. He is still the most successful manager in the history of the Red Devils. Arsene Wenger only won three league titles with the Gunners.
European Glory- Under Sir Alex, Manchester United won the UCL twice. The English manager lifted the European trophy in 1999, and then in 2008. No matter how good Arsene Wenger was, the Arsenal legend failed to win a single Champions League trophy in his career.
Head to Head- Sir Alex Ferguson has won more games against Arsene Wenger in an H2H rivalry. Out of 49 matches, Sir Alex Ferguson won 23 times whereas Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal managed to defeat United 16 times in their tenure. The manager settled for a draw on ten occasions.
Although Sir Alex Ferguson was never able to replicate Arsene Wenger’s 2002 undefeated record, he had a more prolific career than the Frenchman. The two managers shared one of the most historic Premier League rivalries for over 17 years. Their fans still debate on who was the better manager.
