James Harden lifts the lid on why he chose to leave Brooklyn Nets

James Harden's time with the Brooklyn Nets was relatively brief, as he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers during last season's NBA Trade Deadline. Since then, he hasn't talked much about his stint with the Nets.

Little over a year was spent by James Harden with the Brooklyn Nets, during which time he was a part of an unsuccessful superteam that failed to contend for a championship. With a hamstring injury, Harden continued to play despite leaving the team unavoidably.

In an interview with Fox Sports' Yaron Weitzman, James Harden critiqued the Brooklyn Nets' lack of structure. He underlined that in order to be good leaders, even superstars need structure. The unrest between Harden and Durant during the 2021–22 season, which is said to have included arguments over Harden's physical condition, may have been exacerbated by this absence of structure. Weitzman wrote a story about it.

James Harden received criticism and the moniker "quitter" after being traded from the Brooklyn Nets. He responded to a query by saying that he wasn't the only elite player considering leaving the team, though. Kyrie Irving was weighing his options before returning the Nets about the same time Kevin Durant had requested a trade and then revoked it.

During his stint with the Brooklyn Nets, James Harden played in 80 regular season games, averaging 21.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 10.6 assists per game, while playing an average of 37.7 minutes per game.
