Rafael Nadal breaks Jimmy Connors' long standing record with first round win at the 2023 Australian Open

22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal continues to shatter records even at the age of 36.

The defending champion of the Australian open avoided becoming the first defending champion to lose in the first round since Carlos Moya, defeated Boris Becker 25 years ago.

Despite his injury, the popular personality managed to secure a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory over 21-year-old Jack Draper

After a slow start, Nadal appeared to be taking the advantage of Draper's injury and ultimate bag the victory, securing his position in the second round.

However, more interestingly, that's not all.

The seed no. 2 broke Jimmy Connors long standing with his recent Australian Open victory.

Rafael Nadal collects his 21th season (in a row) with at least 1 winning match in Slams
