Aljamain Sterling's journey from a dark childhood to a world champion
Aljamain Sterling was born in 1989 to Jamaican parents in Uniondale, New York. He lived with six half siblings and seven full siblings.
Both Of Aljo's parents had to work to support their families. Hence, Sterling had to take care of his younger siblings.
Sterling's father was abusive towards his mother and this led him to join wrestling as an escape from his ominous home life.
Sterling's UFC debut was back in 2014. He won the bantamweight title by winning a fight against Petr Yan via an illegal knee. Consequently, he faced a lot of backlash from netizens.
Fight fans didn't accept him as the champion until he defeated Petr Yan in their rematch at UFC 267. Currently, Aljamain Sterling is all set to defend his belt against TJ Dillashaw at UFC 280.
