TOP 5 WORST ROBBERIES IN THE UFC
Sean O’Malley’s split decision win over Petr Yan occupies the number 5 spot. Despite both the fighters rocking each other in an action packed 15 minutes, two judges gave the fight to Sean O’Malley, at 29-28; which went against the massively popular perception of it being 29-28 in Petr Yan’s favour.
Li Jingliang was supposed to take on Tony Ferguson, but with Khamzat Chimaev’s weight miss, he fought Daniel Rodriguez. The Chinese fighter looked way sharper than the American, and stood with confidence during the judges’ decision – albeit, his satisfaction became agony when the score was announced 29-28 in Rodriguez’s favour.
Michael Bisping really came into his own, in the second leg of his career. A hometown favorite, he always used British support to propel him. This time, at UFC 75, Bisping had supposedly lost all three rounds (by domination, some say) to Matt Hamill, with one judge scoring it 30-27. The other two, however, didn’t believe so, giving Bisping the decision victory.
Jon Jones’ last finish came against Alexander Gustaffson in 2018. Since, he has only won by decision. And, that was the case in 2020, when he managed to secure a split decision over Dominick Reyes, who most fans and experts thought had won the bout.
GSP isn’t exactly known for finishing people. Despite what fans saw in his last fight against Michael Bisping in 2017, St-Pierre would just maul people on the ground and take the decision. Against Johny Hendricks, he barely scraped through, despite most people believing he got dominated, then, absolutely robbed the American.
