Basketball star Brittney Griner is ready to share the "UNFATHOMABLE" experience of being arrested and incarcerated in Russia. She is working on a memoir that is scheduled for spring 2024.
Her suffering developed concurrently with Russia's invasion of Ukraine and increased tensions between Russia and the United States; it only came to a conclusion when she was released in exchange for notorious Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout.
For the second time since 2014, Griner travelled to Moscow in February 2022 to re-join UMMC Ekaterinburg, a Russian women's team.
"That day (in February) marked the beginning of a period in my life that I can only now begin to talk about," Griner stated in a statement made public by Alfred A. Knopf on Tuesday.
Griner continued, "I also hope that my book will bring attention to other Americans who are being held abroad."
Hence the title of Griner's memoir, which will eventually be released in a young adult edition, is still undetermined.
