Marvin Vettori came up trumps in the main event of UFC Vegas 16, against a defiant Jack Hermansson. The “Italian Dream” and “The Joker” went the full five rounds, thereby putting up a fight of the night performance. Vettori did his nation proud, by becoming the first ever Italian-born fighter to headline a UFC event. He also took up the fight on a really short notice, after Jack Hermansson’s two initially scheduled opponents Darren Till and Kevin Holland pulled out due to injury and COVID-19 respectively.

However, there was more drama even after the fight, as a pumped Marvin Vettori called out Paulo Costa in the post-fight interview. He stated that it would be one hell of a fight.

“Let’s go baby” – Marvin Vettori

Speaking to UFC commentator and analyst, Jon Anik in the post-fight conference, “The Italian Dream” animatedly called out Paulo Costa .“Let’s go, Borrachinha. We’re gonna make a hell of a f—ing fight. Let’s go baby!”, he said.

Paulo Costa is coming off a loss against Israel Adesanya at UFC 253. The number 2 ranked middleweight contender, suffered his first ever loss in his professional MMA career against the Last Stylebender. He hasn’t fought since then. Marvin Vettori, on the other hand, has 4 losses to his name, but he has never been knocked out even once in his career. He even came very close to defeating Israel Adesanya, only to lose via. split decision, back in 2018.

Therefore, a matchup against Paulo Costa will be a really good one. Should Paulo Costa accept this, we are surely in for a cracker of a contest.

What are your thoughts on this possible matchup?
