Chelsea have completed the signing of Eduoard Mendy. The young goalkeeper signs for the London club. The reported fee is said to be about $25million.
The Pensioners will be hoping that the newcomer can bring in impact. However considering Kepa’s form, anything right now is an improvement. Frank Lampard has confirmed Mendy is fit for the Tottenham game. However it remains to be seen if he will be starting.
Impact Eduoard Mendy will have
Extremely good on set-pieces
The new goalkeeper is known for his reach in set-pieces. Moreover given his huge hands he’s very good at catching balls from corners and free-kicks. This is something that Chelsea have been missinh.
Kepa Arrizabalaga has been extremely poor to clear out corners. However with Mendy in we can expect him to grab and clear out from set-pieces.
Chelsea have conceded a ton of goals from long ranger. Some of them were definitely good but most could be saved. Again given Mendy’s physique he can do a good job. Arrizabalaga has basically conceded from every long range shot aimed at him.
The minimal amount of saves he has made is disastrous and ridiculous. Any top club has to have a keeper who has good positioning. Moreover not just left stranded and give out a hand while hoping it works. Chelsea do have that in Eduoard Mendy now.
While Mendy seems quite his communication skills with the defenders is good. The Chelsea team need a vocal presence at the back. Somebody to just guide them and position them properly.
Eduoard Mendy will be hoping to have a good start at Chelsea. The team desperately needs a strong presence at the back. If they cannot find a reliable source between the sticks it’s difficult to compete.
