The Caves and Cliffs update was one of the biggest in terms of changes implemented into the game. The developers introduced many new items, biomes, mobs and even crafting recipes and they have been a hit with the players! Among the many new items, the Spyglass is one of the most exciting and useful. However to craft it, players need the Amethyst Shard in Minecraft!
Amethyst Shard in Minecraft
The Amethyst is a new mineral that the players can find underground while mining and follows an unique growing pattern. The Amethyst Shard is a crystal like mineral ore that can be mined from a fully grown amethyst cluster.
As mentioned above, the Amethyst mineral follows a unique growing pattern in Minecraft. They occur in clusters at a time under ground and can have a massive area filled with only Amethyst.
However, players cannot mine them effectively each block has grown until its fourth stage and formed an Amethyst Cluster. This Amethyst Cluster can then in turn, be mined to obtain 4 Amethyst Shards. Players must mine them with a non-Silk touch pickaxe. The Fortune Enchantment will increase the drop rate.
Uses for Amethyst Shard
The Amethyst Shard in Minecraft is a relatively new item and therefore has limited uses in the game as of now. However, there are some new items in the game that require the use of this item in crafting them.
- One of the newer items is the Spyglass in Minecraft. This allows the players to zoom in over a long distance and scout the surroundings before approaching the place.
- Another item is the Tinted Glass, which acts as an see-through opaque block and does not let light pass through it. This is a purely decorative block.
- Players can also craft a Block of Amethyst using Amethyst Shards.
