‘WHITE LIVES MATTER BURNLEY’: A Total Disgrace

On 23rd June fixture for the Premier League, Manchester City played Burnley. A plane was spotted during the game which stated “WHITE LIVES MATTER BURNLEY”.

After the death of an unarmed Black American ‘George Floyd’ in the state of Minnesota, Minneapolis by the state police during custody. The ‘BLACK LIVES MATTER’ protests arises as millions supported the cause all over the globe. This display was a topic of outrage amongst the public.

The members behind this display are still to be investigated. This display came shortly after the players finished kneeling.

Burnley released a statement about the incident condemning the responsible of such display: “Burnley Football Club strongly condemns the actions of those responsible for the aircraft and offensive banner that flew over The Etihad Stadium on Monday evening. Burnley are constantly in talks with the authorities to identify the wrongdoers.

“We wish to make it clear that those responsible are not welcome at Turf Moor. This, in no way, represents what Burnley Football Club stands for. We will work fully with the authorities to identify those responsible and issue lifetime bans.”

‘BLACK LIVES MATTER’ are printed on the back of the player jerseys since the resume of the Premier League.

Burnley apologises to the Premier League and to the football fans all over the world.

“We apologise unreservedly to the Premier League, to Manchester City and to all those helping to promote Black Lives Matter.” – Burnley apology statement.

In the fixture, Man City defeated Burnley 5 goals to nil. Man City who are 2nd in the league would face away to 4th placed Chelsea. The 11th place Burnley would take on Watford in their next match.
