Who is the Owner of Chennaiyin FC?

Chennaiyin FC is a professional football club in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The club competes in the Indian Super League, India’s top football league. During the inaugural season of the Indian Super League in August 2014, the club was founded. The club has won the Indian Super League twice, once in 2015-16 when they defeated FC Goa and again in 2017–18 when they defeated Bengaluru FC.

When the Indian Super League was established in 2014, Chennai was one of nine proposed cities open for franchise bidding. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium was selected as the home venue for the Chennai team, on August 14, 2014. Finally, actor Abhishek Bachchan and Vita Dani bid for the team. Later, former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni became a joint co-owner of the club on October 6, 2014.

Vita Dani got her start in the sports industry as a co-owner of two-time Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin Football Club and as the Chairperson & Co-Owner of Ultimate Table Tennis, an organisation that promotes and holistically grows Table Tennis in India. She is a Co-promoter of the ELMS Sports Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving physical literacy and sporting excellence in India.

She is a supporter of the Maharashtra State Table Tennis Association (MSTTA) and the President of the Mumbai City District Table Tennis Association (MCDTTA). Vita also serves on the advisory board of Annamrita, an ISCKON mid-day meal initiative, and is heavily involved with the National Association for the Blind (NAB).

In 2014, actor Abhishek Bachchan purchased the Pro Kabaddi League franchise team Jaipur Pink Panthers. The Jaipur Pink Panthers won the inaugural finals in 2014. Bachchan is also involved in the functional and administrative operations of his father’s company, AB Corp. Ltd., which specialises in film production and event management and was formerly known as ABCL. The actor has also served as a brand ambassador for LG Home Appliances, American Express credit cards, Videocon DTH, Motorola mobile phones, Ford Fiesta, and Idea Cellular.

As a motorbike enthusiast, Dhoni partnered with actor Nagarjuna and founded a Supersport World Championship team, Mahi Racing Team India. The cricketer introduced his lifestyle brand SEVEN in February 2016. Dhoni owns the footwear division of the brand and serves as a brand ambassador for SEVEN. In 2019, Dhoni invested in CARS24 and also became the company’s brand ambassador.

Indigo Paints, a Pune-based decorative paint manufacturer, signed Dhoni as a three-year brand ambassador in June 2018. Dhoni was featured in all of the company’s marketing and promotional campaigns. Dhoni Entertainment- a media production house signed a long-term business agreement with Banijay Asia in 2019 to produce content across multiple genres. The first show created was Roar of the Lion, a documentary web series about the Chennai Super Kings’ comeback to win the 2018 Indian Premier League, starring MS Dhoni in the lead role.
