WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns managed to retain his title against Kevin Owens. This was the third instance where Reigns managed to beat Owens for the Universal Championship. But in the previous two defenses, Reigns’ cousin Jey Uso had a significant role to play in Reigns’ win.

With the match at Royal Rumble being a Last Man Standing match, Uso was bound to appear and help the Tribal Chief. But Uso was no where to be seen. It has been reported that Uso was not cleared to wrestle.

Uso had announced in early January that he would be participating in the Royal Rumble match. A report on Wrestling Observer mentioned that Jey Uso has suffered an unknown injury. This was the reason that Uso could not even participate in the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Uso’s return date and the details of the injury he sustained are still unknown.

Uso was catapulted into the top guys on WWE Smackdown, since he started feuding with Roman Reigns. The family feud was one of the best feuds in 2020. Uso soon decided to accept Reigns as his Tribal Chief. Since then Uso has been demolishing opponents one after the other.

Jey Uso played an important role in the rivalry between Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns. Owens brutally attacked Uso on a Smackdown episode which established him as a genuine threat to the Universal Champion.

Reportedly, the next threat for Reigns might be the 2021 Royal Rumble winner, Edge. It would be interesting to see Edge and Christian team up against The Usos.
