When one talks about Williams F1, they always talk about a team that was used to winning title after title. However, this time period gives everyone at Williams the ability to learn, reflect and change. In the short term, their goal would be to finish ahead of their nearest rivals Haas and Alfa Romeo with decent results.

But under new ownership and a fresh approach awaiting in 2022 with the regulations, Williams F1 want to rise up. Their approach has been revealed by their newly appointed CEO Jost Capito believes that is very much possible and references McLaren’s progress as a clear example. 

Jost Capito on Williams F1 Bright Future; by reflecting upon Team McLaren 

Capito stated, “What my goals are? They are very clear.” (translated via Google Translate) 

“In the short term we have to fight hard on the track and try to get the most out of every opportunity. But looking at the slightly longer term, we want Williams to win races again.”

“McLaren has done a fantastic job over the years.” 

Williams F1 would eventually want to restore their glory days 

“My idea about this is clear: there is no reason whatsoever why we should not be able to do the same. We have all the ingredients to do exactly the same,” added Capito. 

 
“It is very difficult to put a time stamp of two, three or four years on it, but I am convinced that we can achieve at least the same as McLaren,” concluded Capito.

Having said that, with the technical rules around the corner, Williams have the perfect opportunity to regroup and come up with a much better car next year.
